A formal ceremony performed only by Traditional Owners or Custodians to welcome visitors onto their Country. A Welcome to Country follows longstanding cultural protocols and can only be extended by someone with the cultural authority to do so. It cannot be performed by a non-First Nations person or by a First Nations person from a different Country. A Welcome to Country should always be arranged in advance, and in genuine relationship with the person performing it.
